circa 1890, 30in. nitro barrels, No.1 replacements in 1960, the rib engraved 'NEW BARRELS BY B.E. CHAPLIN, 6, SOUTHGATE STREET, WINCHESTER', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, partially repaired dent to left barrel, No.2 nitro reproved, the rib engraved 'FREDERIC T. BAKER. 88 FLEET ST. & 29 GLASSHOUSE ST. PICCADILLY CIRCUS. LONDON.' (very rubbed), 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 choke both, wall thicknesses at 18- and 20, heavy pits and some dents, actions with carved fences and removable striker discs, automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, profuse engraving of fine acanthus scrollwork, the undersides with the Baker trademark roundel, the triggerguards gold-inlaid '1' and '2', 15 5/8in. stocks including 1 1/2in. wooden extensions, some cracking at hand No.2, fore-end woods with losses to wood at knuckles (from ejectors), weight 6lb. 11oz. (No.1) and 6lb. 7oz. (No.2), in a brass-cornered oak and leather case with gold-tooled C.B. Vaughan trade label
